Our new President – Barak Obama orders federal regulators today to move quickly on an application by California and 13 other states to set stricter automobile emission regulations and better fuel efficiency standards.
As the California emissions law is being put to action, Mr. Obama will instruct the Transportation Department to act quickly to finalize interim nationwide regulations requiring the automobile industry to increase fuel efficiency standards, as well as ordering federal departments and agencies to discover new ways to save energy and be more environmentally friendly.
The California emissions law will require automakers to reduce emissions by almost a third by 2016. As a consequence, American cars and light truck fleet will see an increase in fuel efficiency from the current average of 27 mpg to roughly 35 miles per gallon.
Aside from improving our air quality, reducing our dependancy on foreign oil and pushing our technology to the limit, here’s how Obama’s environmental and energy elements of his economic plan will change your life:
-
It will double renewable energy generating capacity over three years, which would be enough to power six million American homes.
-
It will pay for 3,000 miles of new or modernized transmission lines as part of a new national electric grid plus 40 million “smart meters,”
- It will refurbish two million homes and 75 percent of federal building space to better guard against the weather and conserve enough energy, which will retuls in –
-
It will save low-income families $350 a year and the federal government $2 billion a year.
Due to the economic recession many people will not be able to buy new fuel efficient and low emissions vehicle. How can you prepare your car the the strict emission laws that are coming?

While corporate America suffers, the best home-built businesses thrive.
Indeed, more than half of all U.S. businesses are now run from kitchen tables, extra bedrooms, basements and garages. Home-based businesses make a $530 billion contribution to the nation’s economy each year.
And for many Americans, starting up at home has become a necessity. What appeared to be simply another economic downturn a year ago has devolved into a far more dire situation. Major economic giants, including Lehman Bros. (LEHMQ, news, msgs), American International Group (AIG, news, msgs) and General Motors (GM, news, msgs), have shown their vulnerability. As corporate titans lay people off by the thousands, many Americans are being forced to find new ways to make a living.
Their criteria? Inexpensive to start. Immediate results.
Enter home-based businesses. Running your own show from home typically requires little more than a skill set and a passion. It has become the stepping-off point for many a newbie entrepreneur.
A recent Wells Fargo study indicated that the average amount of capital required to start a business is approximately $10,000. When you consider that that statistic includes capital-intensive, brick-and-mortar startups, you realize that some home-based businesses can be started on a few hundred dollars.
A Boom Among Boomers
In terms of who is being drawn to home-based business, it’s a mix of men and women, young and old. But one group that seems particularly drawn to starting up is the baby-boom generation.. This group is clearly leveraging skills accumulated during corporate careers and previous entrepreneurial adventures. They’re realizing that they can no longer count on long-term corporate careers.
Adding additional impetus, boomers have watched their retirement savings wither with Wall Street, forcing them to figure out ways to replenish their coffers. That helps make the income generated from a home-based business — whether primary or supplemental — incredibly appealing to boomers.
Let’s talk about passion
But as compelling as the income may be, at the center of every home-based business is one driving force: passion.
The opportunity to do what you love, to have proximity to family and pets and the comforts of home while conducting meaningful work, still plays the starring role. Running a business built around a passion adds meaning and direction in life, a welcome antidote to these confusing and disenfranchising times.
For some, this passion is expressed by going green. They use their business to influence other business owners and in so doing is creating a better world for the next generation.
The startup world shows no signs of slowing down. Whether people join to combat a tough economy, as an alternative to the corporate life or to simply follow their passions, startups are alive and well. Unlike many of the big enterprises out there today, a great number of home-based ventures are still open for business and truly thriving.
Your For Earth represents an incredible and proven opportunity to enjoy all of these benefits. Think about all of the people you know that have a need to earn extra money and would like to positively impact future generations. Invite them to take a look at the Ethos ForEarth business model

In speaking with many of our new leaders across the Country, the excitement level is at an all time high. The new administration’s plan for turning our economy around is being met with tremendous optimism. Wall Street and the public are energized. Our prospects are more excited than ever before about the For Earth opportunity to earn much needed additional or even life changing income.
At the forefront of our new administration’s agenda is the commitment to protecting our environment for our children and our grandchildren. New prospects are not only excited to market the Ethos For Earth’s Fuel Reformulator, but are even more excited about all of the future For Earth products and services that will dramatically impact the future of the environment. You do not have to convince anyone that the greatest wealth building opportunity of this century will be the marketing of green products and services. Not unlike the technology revolution in which overwhelming wealth was created there will be only one chance in history to position you and your family in front of “Greenology”, the marriage of technology and green products.
The “Big 3″ automakers have backed themselves into a corner. One of the primary reasons is their unwillingness to produce energy efficient vehicles and it will take them years to initiate these essential changes. This dramatically enhances your For Earth opportunity.
Add to that the volatility of the oil industry. Everyone knows that the time to buy in is when prices are low. With current oil prices, there has never been a better time to build your For Earth business. Some representatives feel as though a drop in oil and gas prices will negatively impact their business. Only if you let them. Industry analysts predict a rise in prices back to what we all experienced this past summer and long term oil prices at over $200 a barrel. For a true indicator of our future gas prices simply look around the world.
A critical component to long term success in business and perhaps in life is the ability to adapt and to change. During these unprecedented times in the global economy the management team at For Earth is committed to continue to offer the most exciting direct sales opportunity in the industry. As a For Earth representative your goal is to adapt as well.
The economy, the environment, the volatility of the oil industry, the new administration, the challenges of the Big 3. Your opportunity is on the front page of every newspaper, every web browser, and every news station every day. Follow the system, learn to articulate the message, stay current and collect the news articles that support every aspect of your For Earth opportunity and you can enjoy the ride of a lifetime.
We encourage you to do your research through the Holidays. All of you will be at parties, with family, dining, enjoying a cocktail, and talking with people that are in need for change and desperately want more in 2009. All you need to do is share your excitement and follow up with them at the appropriate time. Enjoy the Holidays and build your business. That is a winning combination.

Since we are doing something good for the environment and are taking active steps to make it better, greener, healthier, and really – more affordable for people to drive… why not flash it around with a wristband?
I want to create wristbands for our community and I’m looking for a bad ass slogan to put on it.
I mean, to really make a difference we need massive action and enough people participating and reducing their car’s emissions as much as possible. And there’s no better way spreading the word than word of mouth….and word of mouth starts with a friendly conversation about that bad ass slogan you have on your Ethos Challenge wristband….
Some ideas we had:
- I turned my car green.
- My car gets more mileage than your car.
- My car is greener than your car.
- Making money while making a difference.
- Turning green while making green….
Post your ideas here so that we can vote on them and pick the best one.
So, c’mon…hit me with your best shot…fire away.

There is So much scam out there when it comes to products who promise to save on gas, that I felt compelled to document my experience with Ethos FR.
I first heard of Ethos FR in one of the networking meetings I attended. One of the attendees stood up and talked about it, along with a health juice he was selling. The story of the health juice sounded so absord that it made me think that Ethos fuel reformulator was nothing more than snake oil. Nonetheless, I wanted to work with the fellow and so I arrange to meet with him and purchase one of his Ethos bottles.
Now let me tell you a bit about my car:

it’s a Ford Probe, 1993 – my father in law’s first car. My husband loves this car and wants to turn it into a race car. When I came back from Argentina, in 2006, I didn’t have a car to drive (I wrecked my Honda just before I left) and so I started driving the Probe. It has been sitting in the driveway for about 3 years and so needless to say – it was missing some TLC big time.
When I started driving it, it got 200-210 mile per tank (depends on who was driving it, me or my hubby
). With over 110,000 miles on it, the driving was hard, it wasn’t driving smoothly at all and it was surely wasn’t going to pass the Texas emission test.
The fellow from whom I bought Ethos fuel reformulator had a feeling that I didn’t think it would do anything to my car, and that I’d probably not going to use it. And so he poured it to my fuel and crankcase himself on the day I bought the bottle from him.
To my utmost surprise, a week and some later, I started getting around 280 miles per tank and the car started driving smoother. My engine’s temperature went down and driving became fun.
Gas prices started going up in 2006. In Austin, TX, price of regular fuel on Sept. 06 went up to $2.57 (remember those days?) and we started looking for solutions. With those gas prices, I was saving 70 mils extra per tank, which is about 5 gallons and $13.27 per fill up. You can tell I was pretty happy with the results so I kept using Ethos FR religiously in my car.
Almost 2 years later, gas prices are now almost $4/gallon and my car’s mileage improved even more. In the last few fill ups I’m getting an average of 330 miles per tank. Yeah, I was shocked too, so I started taking pictures:
Here’s my miles per tank on May 13th 2008:

And here’s the cost of fuel that day -

So my fuel savings on May 13th are $29.81 per fill up!
Here’s the calculation:
340 miles – 210 miles = 130 extra miles per tank
130 miles divided by 16.00 (my initial MPG) = 8.125 gas gallons saved
8.125 extra gallons X $3.67 (gas price per gallon on May 13th) = $29.81 saved per tank.
On August 23rd:

On September 23rd:

With gas prices being $3.57/gallon
So, with an average of 335 miles per tank I am now getting an average of 125 extra per tank, which is a little over 9 gallons. At $3.57/gallon, I am saving about $32 per fill up. Look at the last picture where I paid $48.53 to fill up my tank. Deduct the $32 that I’m saving per fill up and you’d be shocked as I am to find that in these days of increasing gas prices, I only pay $16.53 to fill up my tank. Or $1.22/gallon.
Thank you Ethos Fuel reforumlator for saving me money!!

Image via Wikipedia The Daily Green listed 10 Simple Steps Help You Save 20% or More but left a very important one out.
I’ve been using Ethos FR in my car long before Al Unser Jr. put his name on the bottle and before Florida started mandating it in 3 cities’ municipal vehicles.
Want proof? The Sierra Club club web site wrote a story about the Ethos Challenge and me:
Check out the only lubricant that is not petroleum based: Ethos Fuel Reformulated (FR). This non-toxic, non-hazardous, biodegradable lubricant is made in S an Diego, California, by Ethos, a publicly traded company that’s been around for the past 10 years.
I took the Challenge and aside from saving 30% on my gas expenses my car doesn’t pollute the air: it has zero CO (which is lower than a ULEV, like the hybrid) and really low HC.
I turned my car green without buying a new car, without changing my driving habits and without taking the bus.
My savings are above the cost of the product, so I could honestly say that I am making money while making a difference.
Join the challenge and be a part of the solution!
