130 extra miles with Ethos FR mean I only pay $20 at the pump!

Monday Sep 29, 2008

There is So much scam out there when it comes to products who promise to save on gas, that I felt compelled to document my experience with Ethos FR.

I first heard of Ethos FR in one of the networking meetings I attended. One of the attendees stood up and talked about it, along with a health juice he was selling. The story of the health juice sounded so absord that it made me think that Ethos fuel reformulator was nothing more than snake oil. Nonetheless, I wanted to work with the fellow and so I arrange to meet with him and purchase one of his Ethos bottles.

Now let me tell you a bit about my car:

my Car

it’s a Ford Probe, 1993  - my father in law’s first car. My husband loves this car and wants to turn it into a race car. When I came back from Argentina, in 2006, I didn’t have a car to drive (I wrecked my Honda just before I left) and so I started driving the Probe. It has been sitting in the driveway for about 3 years and so needless to say - it was missing some TLC big time.

When I started driving it, it got 200-210 mile per tank (depends on who was driving it, me or my hubby :) ).  With over 110,000 miles on it, the driving was hard, it wasn’t driving smoothly at all and it was surely wasn’t going to pass the Texas emission test.

The fellow from whom I bought Ethos fuel reformulator had a feeling that I didn’t think it would do anything to my car, and that I’d probably not going to use it. And so he poured it to my fuel and crankcase himself on the day I bought the bottle from him.

To my utmost surprise, a week and some later, I started getting around 280 miles per tank and the car started driving smoother. My engine’s temperature went down and driving became fun.

Gas prices started going up in 2006. In Austin, TX, price of regular fuel on Sept. 06 went up to $2.57 (remember those days?) and we started looking for solutions. With those gas prices, I was saving 70 mils extra per tank, which is about 5 gallons and $13.27 per fill up. You can tell I was pretty happy with the results so I kept using Ethos FR religiously in my car.

Almost 2 years later, gas prices are now almost $4/gallon and my car’s mileage improved even more. In the last few fill ups I’m getting an average of 330 miles per tank. Yeah, I was shocked too, so I started taking pictures:

Here’s my miles per tank on May 13th 2008:

MPG on May 13 2008

And here’s the cost of fuel that day -

Fuel costs on May 13 2008

So my fuel savings on May 13th are $29.81 per fill up!

Here’s the calculation:

340 miles - 210 miles = 130 extra miles per tank
130 miles divided by 16.00 (my initial MPG) = 8.125 gas gallons saved
8.125 extra gallons X $3.67 (gas price per gallon on May 13th) = $29.81 saved per tank.

On August 23rd:
MPG on aug 21 2008

On September 23rd:
MPG on sep 23 2008

With gas prices being $3.57/gallon Fuel costs on sep 23 2008

So, with an average of 335 miles per tank I am now getting an average of 125 extra per tank, which is a little over 9 gallons. At $3.57/gallon, I am saving about $32 per fill up. Look at the last picture where I paid $48.53 to fill up my tank. Deduct the $32 that I’m saving per fill up and you’d be shocked as I am to find that in these days of increasing gas prices, I only pay $16.53 to fill up my tank. Or $1.22/gallon.

Thank you Ethos Fuel reforumlator for saving me money!!
